How do I rate a cider in Cider Radar?
In Cider Radar you rate bottles from 1 to 5 and on five cider-specific scales: sweetness, body, tannin, turbidity and funk. Open a bottle card from search, scan or your cellar, then save the scores on iOS, Android or web. Ratings help other drinkers read community taste — not a league table of makers.

Key facts
- Scores. Rate 1–5 plus sweetness, body, tannin, turbidity and funk. [1]
- Scan. A label scan can open the bottle card before you rate.
- Cellar. Saved ratings sit with your tasting cellar on every platform.
How do I leave a rating?
Open the bottle card, set the overall score and the five cider scales, then save. Sweeter or drier scores are personal readings, not lab sugar tests — compare with what dry cider is. Glossary: tannin.
Why do cider scales differ from beer apps?
Cider’s own axes (tannin, turbidity, funk) describe apple ferments better than hop bitterness alone. Sensory compare: does hard cider taste like beer. Guide: what is cider.
Ratings help other drinkers skim hundreds of bottles without reading every tasting note. Use the five scales together: a dry, high-tannin bottle can still score well if that is what you like. Update a rating if a later bottle from the same label tastes different — batches shift with harvest.
